07:00 And the Beat Goes On
Film Based on Sonny Bono's controversial autobiography, this biopic of the 1960s odd couple is enjoyably camp without veering too far into the cheap and tacky. Cher - still topping the charts on a regular basis - is played with finesse and respect by lookalike Renee Faia, while Sonny's infectious enthusiasm is ably put across by Jay Underwood. Fans will enjoy the clever soundtrack, which mixes original music from the period with skilled re-creations.

09:00 The Twilight of the Golds
Film There is a lot of screaming in this TV movie based on the stage play by Jonathan Tolins. As Beals's brother (Brendan Fraser from The Mummy) is gay, this is a sensitive subject. Years of underlying feelings between her brother and her parents (Faye Dunaway, Garry Marshall) come to the surface. Director Ross Marks must think that having his actors yelling their lines will make the audience understand them better, and the overwrought performances ruin an interesting premise.
