20:00 Holby City
Time and Tide - Part 1
Drama Pacamacs at the ready for this two-parter because a month's worth of rain has fallen in 24 hours. Homes are flooded, roads are closed and Holby City is struggling to cope. There's a power cut, the back-up generators keep failing and, with water pouring into the hospital's basement, there's a risk that the drains are going to spew all over the place. None of this stops ambitious Connie Beacham, who's determined to go ahead with her ground-breaking operation even if she has to do it by candlelight. The emergency turns Mark Williams into Superman. He's everywhere: interviewing staff, searching for lost children, finding supplies, checking on operations and peering into drains. But even he can't help when Donna and Maria, who aren't exactly best buddies, get into the lift just as all power finally conks out. Concludes tomorrow. Radio Times reviewer - Jane Rackham

21:00

21:00 Luther
Drama Luther's colleagues are a lackadaisical bunch. Two weeks ago, in the opening episode of this barking-mad cop show, a family was butchered in their own homes, but apart from Luther (the mighty Idris Elba) forming an inappropriate emotional bond with the killer, no one seemed too bothered. Tonight a young mother is abducted by a serial killer but the cops are at their desks, pittering away at their computers and not doing much of anything, it would seem. In a typical piece of Luther-type daftness, everyone knows the identity of the kidnapper, but the no-nonsense lady boss (Saskia Reeves, with a strange gor-blimey accent) is insistent no one goes anywhere near him. Meanwhile the poor victim is entombed naked in a fridge. She's at the mercy of a devil-worshipping weirdo, played by the fabulous Paul Rhys, and no one does blank-eyed menace like him (remember his sexy vampire in Being Human?) It's a nasty story of torture and sadistic violence, so you know that when Rhys's character puts on an rubber apron, it's not because he's about to make a salad dressing. Radio Times reviewer - Alison Graham
